Robert K. Dubiel's BODY SIGNALS:
HEALING THROUGH
PHYSICAL INTUITION

"BODY SIGNALS: HEALING THROUGH PHYSICAL INTUITION" contains a
system to physically attune you, the reader, to the vibrations of your Soul.
This book comprehensively maps out a method to enhance your relationship with
your body as you feel and interpret the sensations of everyday life.
The Body Signals system illustrates the the truth that Spirit and Matter are
one -- a concept made practical in this book by numerous techniques. There are
meditations to open up your sensitivity through signals in the hands and chakras,
using the arm as a pendulum for divination, developing tangible relationships
with your Spirit Guides, exploring the Kabbalistic Tree of Life in the body, and
more. During it all, you will stay grounded as you develop a fun relationship
with your inner child.
You can add Body Signals to your current spiritual practice. If you are
beginning your conscious search, you will open a whole new world of sensitivity
through the practices contained in this book. Wherever you are on your healing
journey, the Body Signals system offers support and validation for your own
intuition and guidance.
Since a near death experience in 1973, Robert K. Dubiel has traveled around
the world as a teacher and counselor, sharing his message that all answers lie
within. He acts as an intuitive coach to help people access their own truth
through communicating with their Spirit Guides, and through soul retrieval, hands-on healing,
and channeling unconditional love through Reiki and other methods.

CHAPTER 2:
THE HANDS ARE THE WINDOWS OF THE SOUL
BODY SIGNALS AS A LEARNING SYSTEM
In this book we consider the possibility of plugging ourselves
into electromagnetic frequencies which are different from the "normal" band of
energy that we may be used to feeling in our bodies. These frequencies join
different parts of the Self together -- they are vibrationally faster than those
which connect us to our outer environment. Consequently they capture a different
band of information -- one including physical data but not limited to it. Deeper
and broader feedback is also available from the different parts of Self -- from
the unconscious mind, portrayed by the symbol of the inner child; and from the
superconscious mind, or higher self.
Accelerated learning systems and systems of relaxation such as
Biofeedback are scientifically mapping the parts of the brain that we use when
we are in an altered state of consciousness. In accelerated learning systems the
student learns to read the context and energy field of the book or language
being studied, rather than each individual word. The student then stores the
information in a mental data bank for further use. Stored data is automatically
put into an appropriate framework, and conscious recall of written and spoken
material improves. In Biofeedback the individual learns conscious control of
relaxation states through altering brain wave patterns. The slower the
brainwave, the more relaxed is the individual and the broader the band of
information accessible to the conscious mind.
In developing sensitivity to a particular code of intuitive
signals in the body, it is good to use a system of directed non-attention which
involves maintaining an open, receptive state of mind while remaining alert for
body awareness details.
MY GUIDE NATHAN'S PERSPECTIVE ON BODY SIGNALS
My Spirit Guide Nathan, who touches me on my right arm, says:
Body Signals are an attempt to recapture some of the
physicalized intuition which has been lost in your culture. Your purpose,
Robert, is to train people to develop their own highly specialized,
individualized form of inner guidance. As more people consciously connect to the
source of their power, their will be a chance for conscious, concerted effort
based on the real needs of both humanity and the environment. There will be a
give and take between Gaia (the Earth Spirit) and human beings which is still
quite uncommon. This is very important for your new phase of conscious
co-operation with the earth, which in the past has been seen in societies such
as Holland (with creation of dikes and woodlands to hold back the sea) and Bali
(rice terraces on mountains).
POINT ONE: LITTLE FINGER
In my system of Body Signals the pinky finger is the all-purpose
truth finger. In can validate your own thought. It can also confirm the thought
of someone else, illustrating that the body is a telepathic receiver. Outside
stimuli of all kinds can give us input which the body responds to by sensory
vibrations. When a piece of art or music puts us in touch with our core values,
the little finger validates this by buzzing. Hunches, overall evaluation of a
situation, intuitive perceptions -- all can be confirmed by buzzing in the
little finger. Doubts about what we are being told can be felt as pain there.
These vibrations take into account our personal belief systems,
which color the information we are open to receive. When the little finger
tingles, some part of us acknowledges that present circumstances are reflecting
what is currently true for us, whether the conscious mind agrees or disagrees
with this perception.
Most of the time, people experience the body signal as a
tingling sensation over the surface of the skin. Some people have differentiated
between sensations felt on each joint of their fingers. The sensations are a
catalyst, a foundation of truth to build on. Body signals are most useful not in
telling us exactly what to do, but rather in giving clues to go on. "Which line
of action would be the most productive?" "What is the real truth of the
situation?" "Should I pay attention to this uneasy feeling of mistrust?" And so
forth.
When the truth finger buzzes about courses of action that are
apparently contradictory, it may be necessary to view things from a broader
perspective. Or perhaps several potential paths can be taken, each of which
would further our growth. We can ask ourselves, "Which course of action makes me
feel most alive? Gives me the most joy?" The truth signal may be a guide to lead
us deeper into the core of our true feelings, where the most effective decisions
can be made and carried out.
POINT TWO: RING FINGER
I have discovered that the ring finger can indicate aspects of
heart connections. In our culture one form of heart-bonding is reflected in the
custom of placing the wedding ring on this finger. This symbolizes that the
married couple are linked at the heart. In everyday life the ring finger could
buzz to indicate an empathic bond. When we are emotionally linked to a person in
the heart it is easy to feel their feelings and share energy with them, both joy
and pain. So physical pain while the heart finger is buzzing could be a
reflection of the other person's traumas, not our own blockages.
A second common meaning for the ring finger signal is that there
is a "past life" connection with another person, place or time; that is, that
another incarnation of ours has "been here before." If we are walking down the
streets of a foreign city and suddenly the ring finger begins to buzz, it would
indicate that this place holds a eaning for us, whether in this life or in
another. Sometimes we visit other places in our sleep and have a sense of
deja vu when we physically arrive in the situation.
When we meet "new" people they may feel familiar to us, as
though we have met before. In these cases the heart finger may start to tingle.
We can take this as a sign that we really do already know our new acquaintance
on some level. We are already connected to them at the heart -- a sign of
unconditional love. It may feel like we are long lost friends just now resuming
our relationship!
POINT THREE: MIDDLE FINGER
In this system of body signals the middle finger signifies
physical healing. It indicates that the psyche is concerned with the proper
circumstances and environment needed for good physical health, both for creating
it and maintaining it.
Let's look at an example of the middle finger in action. Say you
feel a cold coming on -- that sense of tightness and constriction is in the
outer layers of your aura, moving inward toward your body. You think to
yourself, "What can I do to head off this cold?" The thought occurs to you,
"Drink chamomile tea and go to bed early." Concurrently you notice a tingling in
your middle finger, a pleasant sensation. You can rest assured that following
your impulses will turn the cold around. It's like having a built-in doctor
right in your body!
The body signal will also activate if you are asking a "yes/no"
question of your inner self in an area of life connected to health and healing.
"Would less fat intake be good for me at this time?" Using your body as a
pendulum (see Chapter 5) you might receive both a "yes" answer and at the same
time feel tingling on your middle finger.
POINT FOUR: INDEX FINGER
Tingling on the index finger (forefinger) has several related
meanings: It is a signal of both prosperity and sexuality, under the general
umbrella of creativity. The universal life force manifests both as abundance and
as the quickening of new life. This correlation helps us heal concepts about sex
and material prosperity: They are both aspects of the creative flow. When we are
discussing a creative project, buzzing on the index finger indicates that there
is juice for our ideas.
One of the most striking confirmations of the forefinger's
connection with creativity is illustrated in Michelangelo's painting of "The
Creation" in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Michelangelo portrays God the
Father as giving Adam the gift of life by extending his right index finger to
touch Adam's left one. God is sending the life force through the forefinger of
his right hand, while Adam receives it through his left hand (the usual way that
energy flows between right and left).
POINT FIVE: THUMB
The "thumbs up" sign is used in many cultures as a sign of
approval. In my Body Signals system buzzing on the thumb indicates joy. This
signal is very useful to remind us of our core feelings about what really makes
us happy. For instance, if a friend invites you to a party, you might decline by
complaining, "I have too much work to do." Then you notice that thumb starts
buzzing as the image of the party becomes stronger and clearer in your mind's
eye. Then it's easy to surrender to the joy that your friend is extending to
you.
PAIN AS A BODY SIGNAL
Users of this system of Body Signals have come to understand
that signals on the hands can provide several nuances of meaning. The thumb
signals joy, but its opposite -- anger or rage -- will come through as pain
there.
I have learned that constricting pain reflects the opposite
meaning of the usual body signal. Pain in the truth finger indicates that the
full truth is not being perceived or accepted in the situation. Pain in the
heart finger acts as a warning that one is being judgmental or is not open to
love. (We might call this having a closed heart.) Pain in he healing finger
signals that we are doing or thinking about something that is no good for
physical health.
Pain in the forefinger indicates a blockage in the flow of the
creative life force. It may warn of a shutdown in self-expression or
communication if we carry out a contemplated course of action. For instance, if
we are involved in an unhealthy relationship, pain in the forefinger may warn us
to distance ourselves from that person sexually so that our life force is not
drained away.
excerpt from Chapter 8:
SYSTEMS OF ENERGY FLOW: THE CHAKRAS
The word chakra means wheel in Sanskrit, the ancient sacred
language of India. The chakra system provides a template to describe spinning
centers of energy in the body, important for energy distribution both within the
flesh and within the aura. Awareness of sensations in the chakras can be useful
in developing attunement to the Body Signals system.
We can look at the chakras as an energy paradigm that we can fit
onto our bodies and adapt for various purposes. All systems which describe
energy flow within the body are relative, meaning that they are blueprints that
we can adjust for our own particular needs. When a system is not working for us,
we can adapt it by opening our awareness to other approaches to self-knowledge.
EXPERIENCING THE CHAKRAS
I remember when I first had a sensation of all 7 chakras,
sequentially, from the base up to the crown. I had been meditating with this
energy system for about 6 years, using a technique, described later in this
chapter, in which energy poured in through the crown chakra and then flowed down
the spine. One day I was participating in a meditation featuring Kundalini yoga,
which included both yoga postures and chanting. The usual practice of Kundalini
emphasizes that energy enters the body at the base of the spine and then flows
upwards -- the opposite of what I had been practicing for 6 years. So I was
excited to learn a new way of working with the chakras.
At the end of the class we were lying down in sivasana (a
restful pose), as someone rhythmically beat a large gong. I found this resonant
sound very soothing and drifted off into a deep state of relaxation. All became
quiet. Then suddenly, without warning, the gong sounded again. At that moment I
felt the activation of each one of my chakras in ascending order, starting with
the root chakra in my genitals and continuing all the way to the top of my head.
The accompanying sensation was a pleasant and intense tingling in each center.
There was no longer a doubt in my mind about the existence of Kundalini!
INTERPRETING CHAKRA EXPERIENCES
The chakra system is a bridge between physical and non-physical
planes of reality. Through these centers energy can be transferred from one
dimension to another and back again, as in a circuit. One corollary of this
viewpoint, which is being explored the the New Physics, is that imagination
affects physical reality in specific and measurable ways.
Some meditators tend to be less visual than auditory, and so
will probably not perceive chakras as many-petaled lotuses, wheels and other
traditional symbols. Instead they may hear tones coming from these centers.
Visually-oriented practitioners may perceive shapes or points of light emanating
from the chakras. Feeling or kinesthetically oriented people may feel tingling
or pressure sensations in the areas where the chakras are supposed to be.
Whatever our dominant mode of perception, the important thing is to allow our
experience to flow, without excessive categorization. As we let go of the need
to interpret our experiences compulsively, we can open up our sensitivity on a
deeper level more quickly.
I recommend that you not get stuck in one interpretation of your
body signals. Try different systems to describe what is happening. When you feel
sensations that don't fit into systems you recognize, just relax ad enjoy them!
You may be creating your own template -- the meaning will follow later.
CONCLUSION:
New Directions in Growth
In Christian terms Paul wrote almost two thousand years ago that the body is
the temple of the Holy Spirit. Early Christian accounts are filled with the
experience of the "gifts of the Spirit" which believers channeled
through the body while in a state of ecstasy. These gifts were thought to
ennoble and empower the body so that it could do its work of glorifying God more
effectively.
However, in the Judeo-Christian world currents of duality have driven a wedge
between spirit and flesh for the past two millenia. Western humanity has lost
the perspective that the physical body is an extension of the soul’s
consciousness, as materialism has spread over the entire planet. Now, as our
planet is being ravaged and overrun as never before, we humans are starting to
recover from our Dark Night of the Soul and to realize that we have always been
part of All Things. In taking care of the earth, we honor ourselves – our body
is an extension of the earth.
With an earth-centered spirituality comes a renewed respect for the body and
its capabilities. One solution for environmental illness and allergies might be
to get outside and work the earth! As we feel more a part of it, we may find
that it no longer rejects us, and that our symptoms disappear.
While we’re working the earth, our bodies will be giving us messages that
are relevant to our lives and to those around us. As our internal messages
capture our attention, we may consider adopting codes for interpretation (such
as Body Signals) which will help develop and support personal sensitivity. The
final outcome will be a deeper awareness of our connection to All Things, a
knowledge that we are not alone. Creativity is always available to us from the
depths of our personal and collective psyche. Our creative power will replace
problems with projects and goals that motivate us from the core of our being. In
other words, we will have a lot more fun!
Some final remarks from my Spirit Guide, the shaman He Who Walks in the
Night:
Place trust in your bodies, that they will lead you to the truth. Respect
them and do what they ask of you, so that you may prolong life of a high
quality, that is, of great meaning. The path to truth has many twists and turns
in it as you interact with the multiplicity that you have helped create. At this
time on the planet it is better to interact more forcefully with life
circumstances, that you may learn from situations without becoming victims of
them. Find the set of circumstances that you choose to interact with, whether it
be to use them as a springboard for further growth, or to learn from them just as
they are. You do not live in a vacuum nor create in one. Your circumstances are
important, since they set the stage for your growth.
Remember to take a walk in the park, or in the woods, or along your favorite
lake. Merge with your environment – it will give you a new perspective on
yourself. One version of the creation/destruction myth is that you find
yourself, then lose yourself, then find yourself again. The common myth is that
you must go within to find yourself, but I maintain that you can find yourself
just as easily in a tree trunk or in a small animal as in meditation. It’s all
in your perspective: "Am I one with all things, or am I separate?"
With separation comes implosion; necessary, as a part of the cycle of creation,
destruction and rebirth. But it is not an end in itself.
Finally, see the humor in your surroundings and you will not hold onto them
as tightly. You will let inappropriate circumstances go and will allow new
developments to blossom. See the humor in the areas most meaningful to you –
relationships, community, personal creative expression, service to others –
and watch your life circumstances change – very quickly! Those of you who
enjoy change for its own sake will be happy to participate in new opportunities
as you realize how you can benefit from the currents of the mass consciousness
around you. Those of you who are wary of the mass consciousness, thinking of it
as a polluting force, will be less successful in shifting your personal
circumstances to match the prevailing winds. You do not have to blow in the same
direction as the majority, but it is important to capture some current of air
outside yourself to give you a frame of reference.
This brings us back to the body: It is a naturally built-in frame of
reference for your thoughts and feelings. As the body is allowed to do its work
as messenger, it will become more confident and will bring in stronger messages
to your awareness. You can consider your body as a consistent tool for
sensitivity to both inner perspectives (your soul, your feelings) and outer ones
(thoughts and feelings of the beings around you). Body awareness acts as a check
to make sure your plans and strategies match your true intentions.
In closing, I, Robert, wish you success and happiness as you develop your
body sensitivity. As your body’s intelligence becomes conscious, it will work
equally with the mind to enhance your instincts and build a life of
multi-dimensional richness.
